Jim McGrath
Head Coach (Varsity)
Coach McGrath is in his 5th year as head coach of the varsity softball team.

Prior, he coached the first and second 9th grade softball team, where the team had a record of 8 wins, 7 losses the first year, and 7 wins, 8 losses the second.

In his second year, 2009, as varsity coach, Coach McGrath lead the team to a sole AAAA Section 2 title, the first time in Plum softball history.  The team's section record was 10 wins, 2 losses.

Coach McGrath started coaching with daughter Erin, in 1995, who finished her softball career in 2005 with the Plum varsity team.  Coach McGrath was lucky enough to coach his younger daughter Lauren in her last year of varsity softball in 2008.

Coach McGrath coached slow pitch softball, fast pitch softball and baseball with the Plum Boro Athletic Association, serving as the association secretary since 2000.   He also started the first 12U fast pitch softball team in Plum, and has continued coaching both spring and fall seasons ever since.

Coach McGrath also runs the fall softball program for the eastern suburban teams, which includes more than 24 varsity level softball teams.

He has also coached tournament softball teams including Evolution and Vipers.

Coach McGrath's family includes his wife Judy, daughers Erin, who is in the graduate program at Ohio University for athletic training, Lauren, who is in her 3rd year at Penn State Behrend for environmental studies, and his son Steven, who is a senior at Plum High School.   Jim became a grandfather on June 30, 2011 with the birth of Callie Jessica Diebler.

Graduating from Duquesne University in 1976, and Serra Catholic High School in 1972.
